Jenks & Cattell Engineering Ltd, established in 1886, has been a global leader in metal pressings for nearly 140 years. Our expertise lies in automotive metal presswork, laser-cut fabrications, welded assembly, and CNC machining. Notably, we were the original manufacturers of headlamp rims for Mini and Austin vehicles in the 1950s, and today, we continue to produce these aftermarket tooled parts for classic car enthusiasts.
Quality and exceptional customer service have always been central to our operations. In 1990, we became one of the first companies to receive approval for the BS5750 quality system from British Systems. Our journey into high-volume automotive components began with General Motors and Austin Rover | Rover. We invested in automation, including robotic welders and a 6-station pick-and-place AIDA line, which remains a competitive advantage for us globally. Currently, we’re commissioning a new 750-tonne press this month.
Manufacturing Automotive Components: At our Wolverhampton facility, our presses enable mainstream high-volume production, churning out thousands of components per hour. Unlike many competitors, we complete all ancillary operations on-site, from nut insertion and spring attachments to pipe clips and CNC machining. Additionally, we support prototypes and low-volume production using our laser machine and engineering expertise. We consider ourselves a leading metal automotive component supplier for multiple international companies.
Our range of automotive pressings includes:
- Electrical brackets for wiring harnesses
- Seat brackets
- Oil sumps and filters
- Bumper brackets
- Center console assemblies
- Brake pedals
- BIW components
- Fluid handling applications
- Locks
- Battery trays and battery tray bracketry
These metal components find their way into vehicles from prestigious brands such as Aston Martin, Volvo, BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar Land Rover, Nissan, and DAF.
Automotive Alliance: As active members of the SMMT and North East Automotive Alliance, we remain at the forefront of the UK automotive industry. We collaborate, share revolutionary manufacturing ideas, learn best practices, and stay informed about trends in the automotive market.
