”Fleets as a Service” being delivered by The Algorithm People

Following on and as an innovative enhancement to the UK’s first pay as you go optimisation service My Transport Planner, award winning technology specialist, The Algorithm People, (TAP) are bringing a Fleet as a Service (FaaS) platform to market, which will deliver an end-to end solution for fleets and organisations, addressing a new and emerging problem of managing mixed fleets, as they decarbonise and transition to alternative fuelled vehicles.

“Our new FaaS platform, will include our optimisation algorithms, a geocoding service, telematics, predictive maintenance and where appropriate, vehicle charging technology with billing, enabling users to have a complete view of the status, location and availability of their vehicles in real-time time.” Says Colin Ferguson, CEO of TAP.

Ferguson has revealed the organisation is working with several partners to integrate a number of services into a single platform, unlocking significant value to customers. The new FaaS service will use an API (application programming interface) layer to plug the elements together. “In isolation these individual systems are focused on solving a particular business need,” Ferguson explains, “by bringing the power of those systems into one FaaS solution, we can amplify the value to the users, driving additional efficiencies and improving business performance.”

“This is a very exciting development and we’re pleased to be part of the project,” explains Ashley Tate, CEO at Mina. Mina is a supplier of an award-winning solution to bring accuracy and simplicity to fleet charging payments, to the commercial vehicle fleet sector and will integrate its solution into the platform. “The customers we’ve spoken to about this development can see the obvious benefits of having all their fleet information in one place, and also unlocking the benefits of other services, which become available through the platform.” Continues Tate.

Colin Ferguson adds; “The commercial vehicle industry, across all vehicle types and sizes, will be going through a major transition in the coming years as it seeks to decarbonise,” he continues. “Managing a mixed fleet of different fuel types whether you’re the end user or the vehicle provider will be a major headache. The advent of our FaaS platform will remove a significant chunk of that operational burden.”

The Algorithm People expect to launch the of the new FaaS service in the second half of 2022.
