Nissan continues to work with Speedings Ltd for the procurement of protective covers which supports its ongoing productivity and quality excellence.
Speedings Ltd is Sunderland’s oldest manufacturing business established in 1827. The company design and manufacturer bespoke and customised reusable stillage bags and protective covers for the automotive sector, as well as a range of products for the fire and rescue and ambulance service.

Nissan Motor Manufacturing UK, the regions exemplar car manufacturing plant, has been working with Speedings since its early days.
APPROACH
Since Nissan began operations in Sunderland, Speedings has been the preferred supplier of bespoke protective covers, used to provide the safe protection of machinery, parts and line set-up areas.
Speedings provide cleanable canvas and PVC products across the whole plant which are measured, designed, and manufactured at their factory also in Sunderland. The covers offer protection from damage caused by environmental contamination in the plant, which helps to support quality and efficiency. In addition to this, the covers are hard wearing and have a shelf life of over ten years.
OUTCOME
- Speedings can design and manufacture bespoke protective covers to customer requirements and are the only manufacturer of these products in the North East.
- The protective covers ensure the safe preservation of machinery and cars, which minimises disruption to the line and vehicle damage, thus supporting Nissan’s quality and productivity.
