In 2019, the UK today became the first major economy in the world to pass laws to end its contribution to global warming by 2050. The 2050 net zero target, one of the most ambitious in the world, is at the heart of the modern Industrial Strategy.
New legislation will see the phasing-out of petrol and diesel cars and vans; and the introduction of low-carbon electricity, low-carbon heating efficient buildings and manufacturing processes that will significantly impact the vehicles we produce and our manufacturing processes. Investing in cleaner, greener technologies and processes for our world-leading automotive industry will help us reach this target whilst having the potential to make companies more resilient and competitive.
With the whole of the UK committed to net zero carbon by 2050, the North East Automotive Alliance is delighted to bring together a strong line-up of Government, industry and academia to deliver the Automotive Net Zero Conference.
The Automotive Net Zero Conference, sponsored by MAKE it Sunderland and North East Growth Hub, will provide delegates with an understanding of the mobility and manufacturing challenges that need to be addressed as we accelerate towards zero carbon.
