Meet the Speaker:

Andrew White, Managing Associate, Mathys and Squire

Andrew has been commended by clients for his proactive approach and understanding of business strategy. Clients note that he can be “relied upon for both his legal knowledge and technical expertise”. Andrew likes to develop long term relationships with clients and their technical teams to really understand where a business is going and how IP can be used as a tool to complement those drivers and help the business grow.

Andrew has particular experience managing international portfolios particularly in the Medtech, Software, Telecoms and Automotive fields. His background in the interface between Physics and consumer healthcare means Andrew has a particular interest and expertise in medical device technologies. Andrew’s PhD had a commercial focus, sponsored by a major pharmaceutical company resulting in a number of scientific publications in highly-regarded peer-reviewed journals and Andrew’s attendance at numerous international conferences.

Andrew has an active approach to engaging with London’s burgeoning start-up community. He regularly provides free support and advice to a number of start-up accelerators and incubators in the UK, discussing all aspects of IP including registered designs, agreements and licencing, as well as patents. He is particularly proud when he sees clients such as Chip[s]Board going from strength-to-strength having progressed out of the CRL and winning the RAE Launchpad Final presented by HRH Princess Royal.

In 2018 he led a panel discussion as part of TechXLR8 at London Tech Week and helped to host a joint event with accountancy firm Kingston Smith on “start-ups to success stories” also as part of London Tech Week, and has had articles published in the Evening Standard on the importance of IP for start-ups, in Intellectual Property Magazine on the patentability of AI inventions, and in Fintech Weekly and Brave New Coin on the patentability of Blockchain-related inventions, and has also written about recent developments in the growing battles over global SEP licences.

This free-to-attend event is for NEAA member companies and SCNE participants only..
