Sunderland energy solutions firm aims for record turnover with six-figure investment

Sunderland’s Cirrus Environmental Solutions has acquired new premises and is aiming to grow its turnover by a quarter over the next year.

This is said to follow on from receiving a six-figure funding package from Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking. Cirrus helps businesses comply with health and safety and environmental regulations.

Its new 4,150 sq ft site in Boldon Colliery contains a bespoke laboratory, new office space and a client conference suite. The new facilities will give Cirrus the capacity it needs to bid for contracts with more multinational organisations and extend the range of consultancy and testing services it offers clients.

Stuart Hovvels, co-owner of Cirrus Environmental Solutions, said: “We have been looking for the right premises for more than a decade, so it feels great to finally put down permanent roots. It’s already having a positive impact on staff morale and productivity.

“The regulations we help our clients comply with are constantly evolving. The new site is going to give us room to grow. “We’re looking forward to hosting clients we’ve worked with since we first got started and using the facilities to build relationships with new customers across the UK and Europe.”

The business forecasts the move will result in its turnover increasing by 25 per cent over the next 12 months.

Paula Lumsden, relationship manager at Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking, added: “We’ve worked with Stuart and the team since 2005, so supporting them to realise a long-held ambition has been very rewarding. The move has positioned the business for growth and we’re confident of its future success.”
