Established in 1988, Reprotec specialises in providing cost effective, environmentally-friendly repair and protection solutions, using resin-based products to protect the fabric of buildings and increase their longevity. Working with companies across the UK, its clients include Nissan, Mecaplast Group, Unipres, Walkers, 3M and Premier Foods. The group also launched a material sales division in 2013 which offers a specialist product range to the DIY market.
The company’s commitment to recycling and sustainability has been predominately driven by commercial director Nick Megson, who joined the company 18 months ago. Nick, who has more than 25 years’ experience in the resin-based fabric protection industry, implemented a strategy in 2015 which seen Reprotec achieve its goal of diverting 100% of its waste from landfill and resulted in an impressive saving of 63.4 tons. He is also an ambassador for Recycling and Sustainability for the Resin Flooring Association (FeRFA) and delivers seminars and advice sessions for manufacturers and contractors on how they can improve recycling and waste management.
With Nicks’ guidance, the company has received industry recognition with several accolades including an International Corporate Social Responsibility Award at the 2015 International CSR Excellence Awards and the Small Commercial Project of the Year at the 2015 FeRFA awards.
Reprotec was also a finalist for both Member of the Year at FeRFA and Small Business of the Year for Sunderland, Durham and South Tyneside at the 2016 North East Business Awards.
He has also been responsible for driving new business and supporting the company’s ambitious growth plans for increasing its share in industries including automotive, food and drink, pharmaceuticals, aerospace, retail, engineering, education, leisure and manufacturing.
Nick commented: “It has been a fantastic 18 months for the company and I’m proud of what we have achieved. From employees working on site to the people at our offices, our commitment to sustainability, is at every level of the business.
“We have also launched a number of our own products which have a high recyclable content including Ecoguard which is probably the greenest floor coating in the industry – it is made using up to 46% recycled materials, low odour, solvent free and provides up to 33% more coverage than standard paints.”
John Holmes, managing director at Reprotec Group commented: “As a company, we have worked hard to reduce the levels of waste disposed via landfill to zero. Our ethos is centred on being a company with a conscience and I firmly believe that by setting an example and helping others understand what we’ve learned along the way will help businesses make similar reductions and achievements.
“Nick has been instrumental in the changes we have made as a company and embraces everything he does with a real passion. It has been great to have him on board and he will continue to play a vital part in spearheading our future. This also coincides with the recent appointment of our outsourced marketing team, Horizonworks Marketing who we will be working in partnership to help raise our profile and put us firmly on the map.”
