Middlesbrough College
Whether you're leaving school and looking to progress into full-time education, keen to earn while you learn through an apprenticeship, or considering returning to education to develop new skills, Middlesbrough College is the place for you.
We are a fully inclusive college serving a vibrant and diverse community, committed to helping every student belong, thrive, achieve and progress. Our mission is to empower learners while enhancing the economic and social prosperity of the Tees Valley and beyond.
At Middlesbrough College, our focus is on equipping students with the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to succeed in their chosen careers. We support more than 11,000 learners each year across further education, higher education, apprenticeships and adult learning, delivering programmes that are closely aligned to employer and industry needs.
It's an exciting time to join Middlesbrough College. We are proud to be rated Good by Ofsted, with Strong Skills and six Outstanding features. Our achievement rates consistently exceed national averages, with 87% of 16 to 18-year-olds achieving their qualification, 93% adult achievement rates and apprenticeship achievement rates significantly above national performance.
We are unique within the region, offering courses across every occupational sector and at every level, from entry level through to postgraduate qualifications delivered through University Centre Middlesbrough. Whether you are a school leaver, a prospective apprentice, an adult learner looking to retrain, or someone seeking degree-level study, we have a pathway for you.
Although many of our students come from Middlesbrough, Stockton-on-Tees, Redcar and Cleveland, we attract learners from across the wider region. We are proud of our diverse college community and our reputation as a place where people from all backgrounds feel welcomed, supported and inspired to achieve their ambitions.
Our student support package helps remove barriers to education, with financial assistance, travel support, digital access initiatives and targeted bursaries available to ensure every learner has the opportunity to succeed.
Middlesbrough College continues to invest in world-class facilities and technology. Our £130 million Middlehaven campus has seen significant investment in STEM, digital, construction and technical education, alongside the relocation and expansion of TTE's engineering and technical training facilities. Ambitious plans are also underway to expand our adult learning provision and deliver a net zero campus by 2030.
Through MC Apprenticeships & Training (previously known as Northern Skills) and TTE, we work with more than 2,000 employers annually, delivering over 50 apprenticeship standards and bespoke workforce development programmes. These partnerships help address regional skills needs, support business growth and create progression opportunities for learners across key sectors, including engineering, manufacturing, construction, digital technologies and clean energy.
Education changes lives, and Middlesbrough College remains passionate about helping individuals achieve their goals through outstanding teaching, strong employer partnerships and high-quality technical and professional training. Through Vision 2030, we will continue to create opportunities, develop talent and support the future prosperity of our region.
