A family-run distribution and storage firm has unveiled a £5 million expansion.
AV Dawson is adding a dry bulk rail terminal to its Port of Middlesbrough site.
The company says the move “reinforces its long-term commitment to Teesside and will unlock valuable supply chain opportunities for freight businesses to engage more easily with national and international clients”.
It adds the five-rail-line venture – which will operate as AV Dawson’s fifth rail terminal – will help increase unloading speeds by 40 per cent to 500 tonnes an hour, and handle goods including fertilisers, aggregates, salt, industrial minerals and energy products.
A concrete loading pad will additionally provide customers with indoor and outdoor storage.
Work is earmarked for completion by spring next year.
