Azets has revealed plans to hire more than 20 apprentices in the North East, as part of a significant nationwide recruitment drive.
The accountancy firm currently has 650 apprentices, graduates and school leavers across England, with 331 having joined in August 2022.
The business is now looking to recruit an additional 531 for September 2023, including 22 in the North East.
Paul Shields, partner at Azets in Newcastle and former apprentice, said: “Our commitment to early careers and creating accessible apprenticeship opportunities is stronger than ever. We have continued to increase apprenticeship opportunities year-on-year, as we continue to invest in people and talent development.
“Investing in people and talent development is a key strategy for Azets, benefiting our students and positioning the company well for the future, as we continue with our ambitious growth plans in the North East and deliver a service of outstanding professional quality, that is both personal and local.”
He added: “I have seen the first-hand benefits of what apprentices bring to us as a firm. The mix of working in a professional office environment alongside the knowledge and skills gained via the classroom learning really benefits the apprentices and sets them up for the rest of their careers.”
Holly Peck, an apprentice in Azets’ business services team in the region, said: “The apprenticeship route at Azets has enabled me to gain hands-on experience and develop knowledge in the accounting and finance industry, while working towards and achieving qualifications.”
