New NEAA member NC Group Limited make ‘Significant Progress’ in recent Ofsted Report

A Country Durham-based engineering and manufacturing training academy is celebrating an Ofsted “significant progress” grade across leadership and management, and quality of teaching at its first monitoring visit. This accomplishment is such a rarity with only a handful of apprenticeship providers achieving this result.

In October of this year, new NEAA member NC Group Limited, based in Newton Aycliffe, gained the highest grade in an Ofsted provider monitoring visit. This comes in addition to winning the award for Apprenticeship Agency of the Year with prestige awards for the last two years running.

Established in 2017 by Ian Nelson and Lee Childs, NC Group is now a leading provider of engineering and manufacturing , team leading (industry specific), leadership and business apprenticeships. The significant progress grading reflects the success of its apprentices and the relationship NC Group has with its employers, including an impressive catalogue of clients from leading employers across industry such as Gestamp, 3M, INEOS Katmex and Ricor.

In its report Ofsted states of the NC Group team: “Leaders have strong industry knowledge and understand their market very well. Employers value the training provided to their apprentices and the flexible approach to training delivery. They can see and measure the impact of the training and the improvement in apprentices’ knowledge, skills and behaviours.

“Leaders work closely with employers to ensure that the training provided is relevant and targeted to their needs and the needs of their apprentices. apprentices measure how effective they become over time in their job roles within their workplaces.

“Apprentices receive continually improving, high-quality teaching that develops their knowledge, skills, and behaviours. ”.

Commenting on this, Lee Childs said: “We’ve worked so hard to deliver the best recruitment, training, and support to our apprentices and employers, and the whole team is immensely proud of this achievement. We have lived and breathed apprenticeships for so long and we are excited to support more apprentices and employers throughout Northern England.”

The NEAA agree that high-quality training providers like NC Group Limited have never been more vital. They not only address the pressing recruitment challenges faced by industry but also offer individuals an entry point into new and rewarding careers.

The relationship between NC Group and manufacturing and leadership sectors exemplifies the potential of apprenticeships to drive progress, both for individuals and the wider industries.

Members of the NEAA can use code NEAAoffer in the subject line for 15% reduction on any future training.
