As a result of rapid company growth, global construction machinery supplier, Hitachi Construction Machinery UK Ltd, has appointed Silverstone Building Consultancy to build two extensions, with a combined value of £2m.
Hitachi Construction Machinery UK (HCMUK) has instructed chartered building surveyors, Silverstone, to build a 6,500 sq ft steel frame internal, two-storey extension at their Hebburn HQ, as well as extend their existing building by 18,000 sq ft to enable the relocation of a painting booth and quality assurance inspection facility.
Silverstone, which is project manager and contract administrator, has brought Tri Construction on board as main contractor for the two-storey office building.
The first floor of the new facility will be offices and welfare provision, with the ground floor comprising a graphics print and lamination room and space for future office capacity. The project to extend the paint booth is currently at the planning and design stages.
HCMUK, which was established over 50 years ago, recently acquired a 4.7 acre site next door to its head office at Monkton Business Park to expand its offices, Hitachi connected technology and production facility.
Director at Silverstone Building Consultancy, Phil Bone, commented: “Working with such a respected, global brand is a privilege and we’re excited that our work for Hitachi to date has impressed and led on to us being appointed on a second project.
“We’re also helping Hitachi scope out further solutions for heating and fire alarms systems and connecting infrastructure to enable better logistics on its 12-acre site.”
The design team includes Seymour Architecture, structural engineers, SHED, mechanical and engineering experts, JCP, and Blue Keep Building Control.
Dave Roberts, CEO at HCMUK, added: “Silverstone is doing a great job of helping us deliver an industry leading facility that will increase our capacities whilst remaining fully operational, which requires strong communication between all parties.”
