Gateshead-based logistics company OSE European has recently opened a new depot in Calais as part of a strategic move to enhance transit efficiency and reduce delays.
The depot, which opened in late 2023, sits alongside OSE’s existing depots in Gateshead and Diksmuide, Belgium, forming a robust network designed to streamline logistics operations and speed up transit times across the UK and Europe.
This expansion marks a significant step for the company in its efforts to enhance customs procedures, bringing them closer to the efficiency levels experienced prior to Brexit.
Chris Smith, Transport and Planning Manager at OSE European, said, “We are delighted to open our new depot in Calais. This further expansion underpins our commitment to providing market-leading logistics solutions and delivering services responsive to our customers’ evolving needs”.
As members of two of the UK’s leading pallet networks, Pall-ex and Fortec OSE are well-known for offering clients a reliable distribution of palletised freight throughout the UK and across the continent. This latest move provides the foothold for future growth and reinforces its position as a leading player in the European logistics industry.
In addition to speeding up transit times, the new depot provides short- and long-term storage facilities, providing flexibility for businesses with fluctuating haulage requirements or seasonal demands.
Chris continued, “Our priority is ensuring a complete and seamless service for all our customers. Our latest investment ensures we are well-positioned to optimise our customs processes and continue to deliver value to our clients”.
