Turbo Power Systems (TPS) SMART FLEET EV charging solution, saw off competition from global giants to win the Best New Technology category at last week’s Transport & Energy Awards.
Hotly contested, the category celebrates the achievements of technology innovators who have successfully implemented a novel solution that makes a difference to decarbonisation, reaching net zero, and the convergence of both the transport and energy sectors.
TPS’ SMART FLEET solution uses advanced power electronics technology to create a bi-directional, Ultra-Rapid charging system for eHGV fleets, which uniquely balances the needs of vehicles with those of the network, by delivering sufficient charging power while minimising reliance on the Grid supply.
V2X (Vehicle to Everything) capable and fully MCS (Megawatt charging System) ready, SMART FLEET has been developed and tested with global partners including Volvo Trucks and is now active all over the world helping customers like Veolia and Prologis realise their net zero ambitions.
This recognition builds on plaudits from inside and outside the EV sector, including Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachael Reeves during a visit to TPS earlier in the year and global EC Charging industry body CharIN, who commented:
“TPS is a testament to how innovation today shapes the infrastructure of tomorrow. SMART FLEET is a fantastic example of how we can bridge current needs with ultra-high power charging capabilities.”
Commenting on the win TPS CEO Carlos Neves said:
“Recognition like this in the face of global competition underpins this region’s long-standing reputation as a maker of world class innovation, and this award places our very talented people at the vanguard. I am extremely proud of what we’re achieving both here and in the wider North East.”
SMART FLEET joins TPS’ existing portfolio of Rail solutions for customers including Alstom, Stadler and Network Rail, and Energy solutions for customers including UK Power Networks and Northern Powergrid.
