With its prime location on the North East coast, Sunderland has a fantastic array of innovative industries including engineering and advanced manufacturing, creative digital and technology and many more.
Sunderland is home to Nissan – the UK’s biggest car manufacturing plant – and leading the way in electrification, with Envision AESC on site at the International Advanced Manufacturing Park building their second Gigaplant and businesses of all sizes putting the city and region on the map in this key sector.
From first class commercial space, excellent transport links, significant investment in city development and a skilled workforce, to being named Smart City of the Year in 2020 – it will come as no surprise that Sunderland is fast becoming a destination of choice for businesses the world-over seeking to innovate and grow.
Cllr Graeme Miller, leader of Sunderland City Council, said: “We are delighted to be once again supporting the annual North East Automotive Alliance Expo.
“The North East has a revered reputation of being a centre of excellence for the automotive industry and the Expo provides a perfect platform to showcase all of the innovative businesses that are proud to call the region home.
“From Nissan to established component manufacturers such as Unipres, Faltec, SNOP and Vantec to name a few – and fast-growing industry disrupters including Envision AESC, Hyperdrive and most recently Saietta – the region’s success has helped create tens of thousands of jobs and become one of its largest contributors to GDP over the past 40 years. We’re looking forward to celebrating this success at the Expo alongside our industry partners.”
Paul Butler, CEO at the NEAA said: “The NEAA has worked closely with Sunderland City Council since our inception and they have been a headline sponsor at the Expo since our very first event in 2015. Sunderland has so much to offer our industry and we have an abundance of fantastic companies that are based here. To have the ongoing support of Sunderland City Council highlights the importance they place on supporting the automotive sector. We are delighted that this relationship has continued through to our seventh Expo.”
